Mobile Medical Clinic

on September 1, 2010 by Pastor Travis

We are so excited about our upcoming partnership with Good Samaritan Health Services.  For more than 10 years, Good Samaritan has operated a mobile medical clinic in Tulsa and the surrounding areas.  Last year alone, their clinics saw more than 5,000 patients at 13 different locations.

Beginning this month The Assembly will begin providing all the volunteers at one of these clinics.  Good Samaritan will provide the mobile clinic and the medicine and we will provide all the medical and support staff.  We will be doing this clinic at the Indian Springs Apartment Complex on the third Saturday of every month.  Our first clinic will be this month on September 18.  We still need volunteers for this clinic.  If you are a health care professional we would love for you to get involved.  However, we also need people who can do registration, help with files and pray with patients.  If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information please contact Pastor Travis Rutland.  The church office number is 251-8591 or you can email him at trutland@theassembly.org

Ghana Mission Trip

on August 31, 2010 by Pastor Travis

We had an awesome time in Ghana.  19 people went on the trip including 5 teenagers from MPACT.  It was so encouraging to see the adults and teenagers working together to help others.

Our primary focus of the trip was a medical clinic.  During the course of the trip our group saw more than 450 patients in 3 different villages.  These are people who live in extremely remote villages with no access to health care.  During their visit to our clinic they were able to see a doctor, often for the first time in years, receive medicine and be prayed for.  It was so rewarding to see their gratitude as they were able to receive medicine for themselves or their desperately ill children.

We also did fun activities with the kids and had a service in every village.  In addition, we distributed rice, soccer balls and soccer jerseys.  It was so great to see the children’s faces light up as they received their brand new soccer ball.  We also dedicated the new church and the water well that The Assembly paid to build.  It was amazing to be a part of radically transforming the lives of the people that live in that village.  If you would like to watch the video of our trip you can click on this link.  Thank you for being part of GL2010.  We are changing lives in Broken Arrow and around the world.

Jamaica Mission Trip

on July 8, 2010 by Pastor Travis

On June 5th, 14 adults from The Assembly left on a week long mission trip to Christiana, Jamaica.  We were headed for the New Vision City of Refuge Children’s Home.  We stayed at the home.  While we were there, we did construction, shared the Gospel in several public schools and ministered to the children in the home.  Pastor Jeff did an awesome job of kid’s ministry and Pastor Devin oversaw the construction.  Our construction materials were all paid for by The Assembly out of the GL2010 fund.  It was so great to not only help with construction but also to minister to the children.  You can click on this link to watch a video of our time at the home.  I hope it encourages you to stay involved.  Because of you, GL2010 is able to continue to help our local community and the world.

Children of the World Choir

The Children of the World Choir was with us on May 16th.  They are an international choir made up of kids from Uganda, Nepal and the Philippines.  They ministered to us through song in both AM services.  They were such a blessing.  You can see the entire program by clicking on this link.  (Scroll down to the GL2010 series then play the video entitled Children of the World Choir.)

Events like this could not happen without GL2010.  Thank you so much for continuing to give.

Home of Hope-Texas

on by Pastor Travis

The last few months have been extremely busy here at The Assembly.  On May 16th, Jeannine Sullins from Home of Hope-Texas was with us on a Sunday night.  She shared about the growing epidemic of human trafficking.  You can see her entire message by clicking on this link.  (Scroll down to the Guest Speaker series and click on the sermon entitled Underground.)

We are partnering with Home of Hope-Texas to help them finish the site work for their new compound.  The compound will house several dormitories that will allow them to rescue even more young women that are trapped in this web of slavery.  Your continued faithfulness to GL2010 allows us to help wonderful ministries like this.

GL2010 Feb-Apr Update

on April 24, 2010 by Pastor Travis

We have done so much in the past 3 months and I wanted to keep you informed. We have continued to fund both local and global projects.  One of the projects was Arni Jacobsen’s church in Salt Lake City.

We also reached out to numerous people locally through the Acts of Kindness.  I had so many people call the church and say, Thank You.  One was a professor at TCC that received a gift bag.  Another was a mail carrier that got a gift certificate.  Then there was the lady that called me after attending our job seminar.  She had gotten a job because of a lead she had received at the seminar.  She was so excited and grateful.  It has been awesome to see so many different people in our community touched because of our Acts of Kindness.

We have also been touching lives around the world.  We sent the money for the construction of a church and a well in Binangab, Ghana.  Our mission team to Ghana will visit Binangab in July to see the finished product.  We also packed 106,920 meals for Feed My Starving Children.  These meals will be shipped to Kenya to feed starving children.

Our global and local mission moves forward and we are so grateful that you continue to be involved through your time, your prayer and your finances.  We are changing our community and communities around the world.
